Harris Runs Best Race, but Comes up Short

VERMILLION, S.D. -- UNO senior Kaylen Harris ran her career-best race Saturday, but fell seconds short of qualifying for the national meet with a 16th place finish in the NCAA Division II North Central Regional cross country meet.
Harris ran the 6,000-meter race on the Don Baker Cross Country Course in 21:59.24. UNO could not compete for the team title when freshman Janna Brons injured her ankle, dropping the Mavericks to just four runners.
Adams State captured its fifth team title in the past six years.
The top five teams - Adams State, Augustana, Western State, South Dakota and North Dakota - qualified for the Nov. 17 national meet in Joplin, Mo. In addition, the top two individuals not on those teams advanced. Colorado State-Pueblo's Lauren Dunsmoor finished seventh and Minnesota Duluth's Liz Palkie was 11th with a time of 21:51.34.
The other UNO runners included Tahnee Tuenge, 57th, 23:17.79; Nicole Nelson, 114th, 24:23.13, and Lisa Tesarek, 149th, 26:19.0.
