Monger Leads Mavericks at Prairie Wolf Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Senior LaVerne Monger won a pair of events to pace the Nebraska-Omaha track team Friday at the Prairie Wolf Invite hosted at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Monger won the 60-meter dash with a personal best time of 7.63. She finished first in the 200-meter race in 24.58. Both times were NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
Senior Angela Kampschnieder broke a 14-year-old school record in the 600, placing fifth in a time of 1:35.47.
Sophomore Molly Belling placed second in 60 (7.74) while sophomore Pinar Saka was third in the 200 with a personal best time of 24.90 and junior Karin Clarkson was fifth at 25.48.
The Mavericks also had impressive performances in the 400-meter race where Saka finished third at 55.78. Clarkson placed fifth (57.77) and freshman Jessica Purdy was seventh (58.52).
Junior Tahnee Tuenge finished fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:14.44.
Junior Kaylen Harris finished the mile in 5:22.23, good for 13th place.
The Mavericks will compete in the North Central Conference Indoor Championships next Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24 in Vermillion, S.D.
