Relay Team Sets School Mark at Iowa State Classic

AMES, Iowa -- UNO's distrance medley relay team of Kelli Mertes, Angela Kampschnieder, Mary Margaret Nelson and Tahnee Tuenge broke a 10-year old record in the distance medley relay Friday to highlight the Mavericks' showing in the Iowa State Classic.
The relay team finished fifth with a time of 11 minutes, 54.11 seconds. Purdue won the race in 11:24.91.
The old mark of 12:05.49 was set in 1997
In other performances Friday, Karin Clarkson was 43rd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25:34 and Kaylen Harris was 48th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:36.72.
The meet continues Saturday, with the first event for UNO the mile run by Mertes at 10:20 a.m.
