Missouri Western Tournament Next for Mavs

The Mavericks get back on the tournamenttrail this weekend when they compete in the 36-hole Missouri Western Invitational in St. Joseph, Mo. The first round will be played Sunday, Mar. 25 at the Fairview Golf Club. The concluding 18-hole round will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the Moira Country Club.
The Lineup
The Mavericks' five-player lineup will include juniors Lindsay Newton, Lynn Mulligan, Kate O'Dea, Sara Wolfe and freshmen Amy Powell, Rachel Mooberry and Erin Ommen.
Last Tournament
UNO finished 12th in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Spring, Fla., Mar. 12-13. Lindsay Newton's 253 total led the Mavericks in the 54-hole event at the Tuscawilla Country Club. Host school Rollins, the defending NCAA Division II champions, won the tournament.
The 2006 Maverick Fall Season
UNO recorded two tournament wins and also finished 3rd, 4th and 7th in fall tournaments.
The Coach
Tim Nelson is in his fourth season as the Mavericks' head coach. Nelson took over the program in June, 2003, after serving one season as the head coach at the College of St. Mary in Omaha. A UNO graduate, he has guided the Mavericks to the 2003 and 2006 North Central Conference titles and was named the NCC Coach of the Year both years. The Mavericks have advanced to the national finals in 2005 and 2006 under Nelson.
On Deck
UNO will compete in the Mar. 30-31 Augustana Spring Tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Mavericks will then have two weeks before hosting the Ironwood Collegiate Classic at the Ironwood Country Club in Omaha April 15-16.
