Monger, Belling Advance in NCAA Track

BOSTON, Mass. -- LaVerne Monger qualified in two events and Molly Belling in one Friday to highlight UNO's performance in the first day of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.
Monger was seventh in the 200-meter dash prelims with a time of 24.52 seconds and ninth in the 60-meter dash prelims with a mark of 7.62. Belling earned a spot in the finals of the 200 with a time of 24.52 seconds.
In the only final for the Mavericks Friday, the distance medley relay team of Kelli Mertes, Angela Kampschnieder, Mary Margaret Nelson and Tahnee Tuenger finish 10th.
In other Friday events, Pinar Saka was 13th and Karin Clarkson 16th in the 400-meter dash prelims and Tuenge was 14th in the 800-meter dash prelim. Belling was also 10th in the 60-meter dash prelims.
Saturday, Monger will run in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter finals, while Belling will join her in the 200-meter race. Also, LaCheryl Prince will compete in the triple jump final and the 4x400 meter relay team of Clarkson, Kampschnieder, Saka and Monger will run in the final event of the day.
