2 Meets Get Maverick Attention

The Maverick track team competes on two fronts this weekend. UNO will send 13 athletes to the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan., and 10 to the Doane Relays in Crete, Neb. Both meets are on Friday and Saturday.
Last Week
The Mavericks gathered six victories, three provisional qualifying times and two meet records while making their first outdoor appearance of the season Saturday in the Concordia University Invitational. LaVerne Monger, Molly Belling and Pinar Saka finished 1-2-3 in the 200-meter dash and Jessica Purdy was fourth. Monger broke her own meet record, with a 24.32 with Belling clocking a 24.35, both provisional qualifying times for the NCAA II outdoor national meet in May. The 4x100 relay team of Libby DiBiase, Belling, Saka and Monger also broke its own meet record with a time of 46.68 seconds, which was also a provisional qualifying time.
The other event winners included:
* Ashley Yates, with a 17-10.75 in the long jump
* Magda Orzylowski, who edged teammate Angela Kampschnieder in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:04.53 to Kampschnieder's 1:05.70
* Karin Clarkson with a 57.47 time in the 400-meter dash
* The 4x400 relay team of Orzylowski, Lisa Tesarek, Purdy and Kampschnieder, which posted a time of 3:59.41
Maverick Notes
The 200-meter duo of LaVerne Monger and Molly Belling rank 7-8 nationally after last week's performances in the Concordia Invitational...the 4x100-meter relay team of Libby DiBiase, Belling, Pinar Saka and Monger rank ninth.
UNO Indoor Wrap
The Mavericks won their first North Central Conference indoor championship in 26 years Feb. 24, in Vermillion, S.D., capturing seven event titles. UNO then went on to finish 10th in the NCAA II Indoor National meet March 9-10 in Boston.

The Mavericks compete in the Drake Relays April 26-28.
