Sprint Medley Team Wins at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- UNO's sprint medley relay team of Molly Belling, LaVerne Monger, Pinar Saka and Tahnee Tuenge set a school record in winning the race at the Kansas Relays Saturday.
The relay team ran the race in 3:59.78, highlighting the day's performances. In other events Saturday at KU, the two-mile relay team of Mary Nelson, Jessica Purdy, Lisa Tesarek and Kelli Mertes finished 8th and Magda Orzylowski was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks placed in seven events at the Doane Relays in Crete, Neb. Kelly Hollmann (37-11.75)was second and LaCheryl Prince (37-10.25) third in the triple jump. Hollmann was also sixth in the high jump at 5-2, while Ashley Freeman was third with a mark of 5-6.
Julie Gass was third in the 200-meter dash (26.87), fifth in the 100-meter high hurdles and also was eighth in the long jump.
Ashley Yates finished second in the long jump with a mark of 17-9.5.
Kaeli Bixler was third in the shot put with a throw of 41-11 feet and 10th in the hammer throw. Also in the shot, Heather Minssen was sixth and Allison Gottsch seventh.
