Mavs Open Regional Play Monday

The Mavericks will compete in their sixth straight NCAA II North Regional tournament Monday through Wednesday at the par-72, 5,931-yard Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa. The top two teams will advance to the national finals in Pensacola, Fla.
The regional field includes Augustana, Upper Iowa, North Dakota, Truman State and Winona State. UNO players will tee off Monday between 9:24 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The Lineup:
The Mavericks' lineup will include juniors Lindsay Newton, Lynn Mulligan, Kate O'Dea, Sara Wolfe and freshmen Erin Ommen.
Last Tournament:
UNO finished ninth in the 11-team MSU Invitational at Lakeside Country Club in Waseca, Minn. Lynn Mulligan's 86-85--171 led UNO.
The Coach:
Tim Nelson is in his fourth season as the Mavericks' head coach. Nelson took over the program in June, 2003, after serving one season as the head coach at the College of St. Mary in Omaha. A UNO graduate, he has guided the Mavericks to the 2003 and 2006 North Central Conference titles and was named the NCC Coach of the Year both years.
The Mavericks have advanced to the national finals in 2005 and 2006 under Nelson.
