Mavs 4th After 1st Regional Round

WATERLOO, Iowa -- Kate O'Dea fired a solid five-over 77 Monday in the first round of the 54-hole NCAA Division II North Regional Golf Tournament at Sunnyside Country Club. The Mavericks are fourth entering Tuesday's second round, trailing first-round leader North Dakota by 11 shots.
O'Dea, a junior from Kearney, Neb., is tied for fourth in the tournament's individual standings, four shots behind Upper Iowa's Rachael Schmidt, who shot a one-over-par 73. O'Dea matched her best tournament round of the year to tie with Augustana's Carley Roach.
Erin Ommen and Sara Wolfe each carded 83s and Lynn Mulligan an 85 for the Mavericks. Lindsay Newton shot an 88. The best four scores of five count in the team totals.
UNO will begin second round play at 8:39 a.m. Tuesday. The top two teams in the tournament will advance to the NCAA II tournament in Florida May 9-12.
