Mavericks Fall Twice in Duals

Sixteen season-best performances weren't enough for the Mavericks as they absorbed dual losses to South Dakota and Truman State. Jessica Hessel posted UNO's lone win Saturday afternoon at the HPER Pool.
UNO also had second-place finishes by Lindsey Kline in the 500-yard freestyle and by the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Cait Hopkins, Kristy Gmeiner, Lucy Zamecnik and Hessel.
Truman State defeated UNO, 149.5-55.5 and South Dakota recorded a 132-105 win. UNO fell to 2-7 with the losses.
Hessel won the 100-yard freestyle event in a time of 52.51 seconds, almost a full second in front of Truman State's Emily Pufall. Kline swam her event in 5:11.10, losing to Truman State's Molly Polette. The relay team also finished behind Truman, recording a time of 1:38.92.
UNO's next action will be Saturday, Jan. 19 at Northern Iowa.
