Mavericks Finish Regular Season in South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. - The UNO cross country team placed five runners in the top 20 at the Tim Young Invitational on Friday afternoon. It was the final meet of the regular season for the Mavericks who now look ahead to the MIAA championships later this month.
Sophomore #Janna Brons# led the Mavs with a time of 20:14:28, good for 12th overall. Freshman Amanda Stauffer was two spots behind, finishing in 14th with a time of 20:18:35. Sophomore #Mary Margaret Nelson# of nearby Sioux Falls, S.D. was third for the Mavs with a time of 20:53:51. Fellow frosh #Kelly Esch# was fourth (21:11:97) and Carolina Kunneman (21:32:64) rounded out the Mavs' top five.
There were no team scores kept in the meet. The University of South Dakota's Ramsey Fitzsimmons posted the top time by more than a minute, finishing at 17:44:23, a full 61 seconds faster than the second place runner, North Dakota's Brittany Benney. Fitzsimmons broke the course record by 13 seconds.
The Mavericks will now aim for the MIAA Championships which will be held at Central Missouri on October 25.
