MARYVILLE, Mo. – Junior #Erin Ommen# set a new school record with a low round of 68 to help the Nebraska Omaha golf team win the Bearcat Open, hosted by Northwest Missouri State, on Friday. The Mavericks earned their second straight tournament win, beating five other schools in the two-day event.

Ommen's record round was four shots better than the previous school record and marked a 19-shot improvement over her first-round score. Ommen finished tied with Krista Nelson from Avila University in Kansas City, Mo. with a two-day score of 155 but earned top individual honors in a playoff. It was her fourth win in five tournaments this fall.
Junior #Abbey Weddle# came in fourth overall after firing a 78 for a two-day total of 160. Sophomore captain #Dani Suponchick# was one stroke behind in fifth place after carding a 77. Sophomore #Amy Powell# finished in a tie for sixth. She shot 82 on Friday for a tournament total of 162. Freshman #Rebecca Pollock# had an 86 for a two-day total of 172.
The Mavericks' team score of 305 on Friday was their lowest for one day this season. They finished the tournament with a score of 637, 53 shots better than runner up Rockhurst University. Park University of Parkville, Mo. was in third at 694.
The Mavericks will look to continue their hot play this weekend when they travel to Lincoln to play in the Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday. It will be their final tournament of the fall.
