The University of Nebraska at Omaha will provide live video webcasts of all remaining regular-season events for the 2008-09 season.
Beginning with the Nichols Open on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Ames, Iowa, fans can watch all of the action by clicking on the following link. Competition Saturday is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The Nichols Open will be available to fans free of charge with Bob Mueller calling all of the action.
Records & Rankings
The Mavericks are ranked No. 1 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association pre-season poll and eight Mavs are among the top eight in individual rankings.
Senior Ross Taplin, a national runner-up last year, was the preseason pick as the top wrestler in the 174 pound weight class. Junior Cody Garcia, who is a two-time national champion at 125 pounds, is ranked second at 133.

The Coach
Mike Denney is in his 30th season as the Maverick head coach. The Dakota Wesleyan graduate has a 276-109-5 career mark. He has twice been named the NCAA II National Coach of the Year and led the 1991, 2004, 2005, and 2006 Mavericks to NCAA II national championships. Denney has coached 157 All-Americans and 28 national champions during his career.
Last Week
The Mavericks crowned three champions in the season-opening Daktronics Open last Saturday at South Dakota State University. Redshirt freshman Esai Dominguez (149) went 5-0 with four technical falls and an 8-4 decision in the finals over Joe Soto. At 174 pounds, senior Ross Taplin won the tournament's Most Falls Awards, going 4-0 with four first period pins. Wrestling unattached, freshman 285-pounder Elijah Madison was 4-0 with a 5-3 decision in the finals over Nebraska's Tucker Lane.
Redshirt freshman Nathan Sigman finished third at 157 pounds with a 4-1 record. Freshnman Matt Baker, wrestling unattached at 184 pounds, collected a 4-1 record, placing fifth..

UNO will host the Kaufman-Brand Open on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. The meet, the largest one-day collegiate tournament in the nation, will get underway at 9 a.m. and will feature some of the top wrestlers and teams in the nation among all divisions. Over 600 wrestlers from approximately 40 teams are expected to compete.
