
Mavericks Announce '09-10 Golf Team Signees

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Nebraska at Omaha golf team announced the signing of two recruits for the 2009-2010 season today. Melyssa Doerr and Ricca Soper will join the Mavericks for the fall season next year.
“These are two outstanding individuals who are good students and good players,” said #Tim Nelson#, UNO golf coach. “We're excited to have them on our team next year. We think they will complement our other players very well.”
Melyssa Doerr is from LaVista, Neb. She played golf and was team captain for coach Becky Hoch at Papillion-LaVista High School where she medaled in every tournament during her recently completed senior season. She was named to the All-State Academic golf team and was an academic letter winner. She also lettered in track at Papillion-LaVista.
Ricca Soper joins the Mavericks from Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa where she played for her father, coach Dan Soper. She was a 2008 national qualifier following a third-place regional finish. While at Estherville Lincoln High School, she was the 2007 Athlete of the Year after earning first team all-conference honors in volleyball and softball and second team all-conference in basketball during her senior season.
The Mavericks won three straight tournaments to finish the 2008 fall season. They also earned one second-, one third- and one fifth-place finish. Their season resumes in the spring.
