
McNeill on Ballot for Harlon Hill Award

OMAHA, Neb. - Nebraska-Omaha senior tailback Brian McNeill is one of 24 players being considered for the Harlon Hill Award, given annually to the top player in Division II college football. The list includes 6 players from each of 4 Super Regionals. McNeill is one of the representatives from Super Region IV. He also was named to the regional ballot in 2007.
McNeill is the Mavericks' leading rusher in 2008. He's carried 206 times for 1,199 yards and 10 touchdowns. This is the second straight season in which he's run for more than 1,000 yards. The native of Philadelphia, Penn. ran for the third-highest single-game total in school history when he cranked out 272 yards and 4 touchdowns against Missouri Western on Oct. 11. For his efforts that week, he was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association offensive player of the week.

The 24 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots and the top two players from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the national ballot when regional voting concludes on November 14.
The winner of the 2008 award, which is presented by the National Harlon Hill Award Committee, will be announced at the 23rd annual Harlon Hill Trophy Presentation Banquet on Friday, December 12 at the Florence (Ala.) Conference Center at 6:30 p.m.
The Mavericks play their final regular season game on Saturday, Nov. 8 when they visit the Washburn Ichabods. Kick-off is 1 p.m. from Yager Stadium in Topeka, Kan.
