Final NCC Meet Begins Thursday

The University of Nebraska at Omaha will host the final North Central Conference men's and women's swimming and diving meet Thursday through Sunday at the Health, Physcial Education and Recreation Pool on the UNO campus. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. each day.
The Mavericks will be trying to end a string of second-place finishes in the meet. UNO won the meet the last time it was held in Omaha, in 2005, and finished second each of the past two years to North Dakota. UND is also the defending men's team champion.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for students per session. All-session passes are also available.
The Mavericks hold the top times thus far in the conference in two events. Jessica Hessel's 52.51 in the 100-yard freestyle is a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA II meet and the 400-yard freestyle relay team's 3:30.86 is an automatic qualifier.
Lindsey Kline, who recorded two second-place finishes to go with a third and fourth-place in last year's meet, has posted the No. 2 times in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1000-yard freestyle this year in the NCC. She also has the No. 3 time in the 200-yard free and the fourth-best in the 1650-yard free. All are provisional qualifying times.
Carrie Murphy has the third-best time in the 200-yard breastroke; Cait Hopkins the No. 6 time in the 200-yard free and No. 7 in the 100-yard free; Megan Guthmiller the No. 5 time in the 100-yard freestyle; Kristy Gmeiner No. 6 in the 100-free, and Hessel the No. 5 time in the 200-yard free. All are provisional qualifiers.
