
Title Defense Goal of Mavericks

The University of Nebraska at Omaha track team will try to defend its North Central Conference indoor championship when the final league meet unfolds Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minn.
The Mavericks won their first title in 26 years last year, capturing six events.
The pentathlon will get underway Friday at 10 a.m.. Field events will begin at 1:30 p.m. and running events at 5 p.m. Saturday, the field events start at 10 a.m. and running events at noon.
Two Mavericks top the NCC performance lists for the indoor season heading into this weekend's competition.
Junior sprinter Pinar Saka has posted automatic qualifying times of 24.49 seconds in the 200-meters and 53.91 in the 400. Those times are also the best thus far in NCAA Division II.
Freshman Shana Brown also leads the NCC chart in the long jump with a mark of 18-feet, 8 inches, which is a provisional qualifying mark.
Junior Molly Belling will be trying to defend her NCC titles in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter race. Belling, slowed by an injury most of the indoor season, so far has run provisional qualifying marks in both events.
