Hessel, Kline Set Marks in 1st Day Events

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Jessica Hessel and Lindsey Kline each set school records in Wednesday's first day of competition in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Meet at the University of Missouri.
The Mavericks scored 40 points as a team and stands 10th after the first day of the four-day meet. Truman State leads with 103 points.
Hessel finished third in the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 23.36 seconds. Kline was eighth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:25.53. Ashley Barna was 16th in the same event
In the 200-yard individual medley, Megan Guthmiller was 11th with a time of 2:07.00 and Laura Kemp 15th with a time of 2:08.68.
The Mavericks capped the first day's competition with a 15th-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay by the squad of Kristy Gmeiner, Carrie Murphy, Hessel and Cait Hopkins.
