Saka Advances to Finals in 200, 400 at Nationals

MANKATO, Minn. -- Junior Pinar Saka led the Maverick track team Friday at the NCAA Division II National Indoor Championships, advancing to the finals in two events, the 200 and 400-meter races.
Saka ran the second fastest time in the 400 prelims with a time of 55.93. She finished seventh in the prelims of the 200 with a time of 25.03.
Freshman Shana Brown finished 13th in the long jump with a leap of 16-10.
Junior Molly Belling failed to qualify in the 60 meters, finishing 18th in the prelims (7.74) and in the 200, placing 17th (25.49).
The other Maverick competing Friday was freshman Anja Puc, who failed to advance in the 400, finishing 15th (57.60).
The meet will conclude on Saturday at Minnesota State's Myers Fieldhouse. In addition to Saka competing in the finals of the 200 and 400, the final women's event will have Saka, Belling, Puc, and Kayla Koepke competing in the 4x400 meter relay.
