Kline Breaks Two School Records, Mavs Stand in Six

COLUMBIA, Mo. –- Lindsey Kline set two school records, individually in the 500-yard freestyle race, and anchoring the 800-yard freestyle relay team, helping the University of Nebraska at Omaha swim team to sixth place going into the final day of the NCAA Division II swimming and diving championship meet.
Kline's time of 5:02.88 shaved one and one-tenth seconds off her own school record, set as a freshman two years ago. Unfortunately, that time was only good enough for an 11th-place finish, won by Southern Connecticut's Kristen Frost in a national-record time of 4:45.69. UNO's Ashley Barna took 16th place with a time of 5:12.56.
Barna, Cait Hopkins, Megan Guthmiller and Kline registered a time of 7:31.21 in the 800-yard relay, finishing third behind teams from Truman State and UC-San Diego. The time shattered the old school record of 7:40.47, set in 2004.
The Mavericks stand in sixth place with 161 points. Truman and Drury go into Saturday's final day of competition tied for first place with 351 points each. UCSD stands at third with 252, with North Dakota fourth at 246, and Wayne State fifth at 174.
Jessica LaFave took eighth place in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:07.24, less than a half-second off the school record.
