Mavs Put 3 in Top 10, Finish 2nd

ARNOLDS PARK, Iowa -- Erin Ommen shot the day's best round and three Mavericks placed in the top 10 Sunday as the University of Nebraska at Omaha finished second to Upper Iowa by eight shots in the Okoboji Invitational Golf Tournament.
Ommen fired a five-over-par 77 on the 5,981-yard Emerald Hills Golf Club to tie for eighth in the tournament with teammate Abbey Weddle at 165. Weddle fired an 82 Sunday. Sara Wolfe, who shot a second-round 81 for 164, tied for sixth to lead UNO in the 10-team, 63-player field.
Upper Iowa, led by individual champion Rachelle Schmidt, who shot 77-78--155, posted a two-round total of 647 to UNO's 665. Her twin sister, Rochelle, was second at 161 after a second-round 79.
Other UNO scores included Linday Newton, who tied for 19th at 172 and Lynn Mulligan, tied for 28th at 174. Both carded 87s Sunday.
Kate O'Dea, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 13th after her Sunday round of 79 put her at 168. Dani Suponchick, also playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 43rd after her second-straight 90.
The Mavericks will now move on to the 54-hole NCAA Division II North Regional, to be held in Grand Forks, N.D., May 5-7.
