Former UNO Coach, Administrator Honored by WBCA

Cherri Mankenberg, former head women's basketball coach and associate athletic director at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, was presented the 2008 Jostens-Berenson Lifetime Achievement Award Tuesday by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in Tampa, Fla., at the group's annual convention.
Mankenberg, who now lives in Arizona, retired from UNO in 2003. The first full-time women's coach at UNO, she guided the basketball team to three North Central Conference titles, seven post-season berths and a 344-277 record during her 1976-98 coaching career. She served as the school's associate athletic director from 1998-2003. Mankenberg was named to the UNO Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003 and also is a member of the Wayne State College Hall of Fame and Iowa Girls High School Hall of Fame.
She currently operates a fundraising consulting company, Project FUNdrai$er, LLC, aimed at colleges, universities and non-profit organizations.
