Mulligan's 78 Leads Mavericks

HOUSTON, Texas -- Lynn Mulligan fired a first-round 78 Tuesday, to lead the Mavericks into a seventh-place tie in the NCAA Division II championship at Memorial Park Golf Course.
Nova Southeastern holds the lead in the 72-hole, eight-team event with a four-over 292. Rollins is one shot back at 293 and Ferris State four shots back at 296. UNO, the North Regional champion, is tied with Augustana at 319.
Mulligan stands in a tie for 28th in the event. Teammates Lindsay Newton and Abbey Weddle each shot 80s to tie for 34th and Erin Ommen is tied at 38 with an 81. Sara Wolfe, who won the North Regional individual title, shot an 84.
The Mavericks tee off in Wednesday's second round at 8:10 a.m. on the par-72, 6,327-yard course.
