Dominguez, Sigman to Compete at Olympic Trials

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Freshman Esai Dominguez and former Maverick four-time national champion Les Sigman will both compete this weekend at the United State Olympic Team Trials at the Thomas and Mack Center on the campus of UNLV.
Dominguez, who redshirted the 2007-08 season, will begin competition in the 145.5-pound weight class on Saturday morning, June 14. He will compete in the Greco-Roman portion of the trials. Dominguez' first opponent will be Jacob Hey of the United States Army at 9 a.m.
Dominguez is one of 12 wrestlers who qualified for the trials at 145.5 pounds.
The top wrestler in each weight class will qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
Sigman, competing in freestyle at 264.5 pounds, will begin competition on Sunday, June 15 at 9 a.m. His first opponent will be Pat Cummins of the New York Athletic Club.
This marks the first time in UNO wrestling history that a Maverick has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials.
