Samland Named Midlands College Coach of Year

University of Nebraska at Omaha swimming coach Todd Samland, who has led the Maverick program since its inception in 1996, was named the Midlands college coach of the year for women's sports by the Omaha World-Herald.
Samland led the Mavericks to their second North Central Conference title in February in the league's final competition. UNO went on to a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Division II meet.
The UNO graduate is the fourth Maverick women's coach to be honored by the publication. Soccer coach Don Klosterman, in 2006; softball coach Jeanne Tostenson, in 2001, and volleyball coach Rose Shires, in 2000, were the others named.
