Elmo, Minn. - The Nebraska Omaha golf team held fifth place after the first round of the Concordia University Fall Invitational. The Mavericks overcame steady rain to shoot a team total 340, leaving them ten shots behind the leaders.
Junior #Erin Ommen#, who was the top individual player less than a week ago at the Drury University Fall Shootout, led the Mavs with a first round score of 6 over par 78. Junior #Abbey Weddle and sophomore Amy Powell# both shot an 86. Sophomore #Dani Suponchick# carded a 90 and freshman #Rebecca Pollock# had 102.
Host Concordia University of St. Paul is tied with the University of North Dakota for the team lead at 330. Winona State University is in third place with a score of 335 and Augustana is in fourth at 339. Megan Placko of Winona State had the top individual score in the first round with a 77, one shot better than Ommen and two others.
The Mavericks will play the final round on Monday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Tartan Park Golf Club.
