CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The No. 1 ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha wrestling team defeated Limestone (S.C.) College 42-9, Saturday morning in the first round of the NWCA National Duals at the UNI Dome on the campus of the University Northern Iowa.
The Mavericks will now face No. 9 Mercyhurst College at 1 p.m. this afternoon. Eighth-seeded MC advanced after defeating Chardon State College, 26-18.
The biggest upset of the dual came at 174 where the Saints' Joby Shreckhise won by decision over top-ranked Ross Taplin.
After Taplin's loss, the Mavericks reeled off three consecutive victories from pins by Austin Boehm, Jacob Marrs and Tony Lewis to come away with convincing 42-9 win.
