McCOOK LAKE, S.D. - The UNO cross country team earned a seventh place finish at the Briar Cliff Invitational on a chilly Saturday morning at the Adams Nature Preserve. Freshman #Brittany Phillips# posted the Mavericks top time of 19:13 to finish in 18th place overall.
As a team, UNO finished with 162 points. Morningside won the meet with a score of 40. Doane College took second with 87 points, just edging Dakota State which was third with 88 points.
Phillips ran the best 5K time of her young career, besting her previous mark of 19:42 set at the Planet Sub Invite at Emporia State on Oct. 2. Fellow freshman #Megan Oddo# finished second for the Mavs with a time of 19:24, good for 24th place. Teammate #Dina Luka# was right behind in 25th place at 19:25.
UNO will now prepare for the MIAA Championship back at Emporia State on Saturday, Oct. 24.
