UNO in First Place After Session One

Omaha, Neb. – The University of Nebraska at Omaha swim team kicked off the first session of the Mutual of Omaha Invite Friday morning at the HPER Pool. UNO sits in first place heading into the second session with 53 points followed by the University of Northern Iowa with 48 points and Morningside College with 43 points.
UNO received their points in the 1650 yard freestyle with a third place finish by sophomore Kylie Hubbel with a time of 18:47.62 and 21 points followed by a fifth place finish by senior #Tessa Edwards# with a time of 19:07.82 and 19 points. Sophomore #Carli Bilbrey# added 13 more points with an eighth place finish at 20:02.38
Sophomore #Colleen Klaiber#, freshman #Alicia Goetz#, junior #Lucy Zamecnik and junior Cait Hopkins finished first to begin the day in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 138.76. junior Laura Kemp# led the pack in the 400 yard im to qualify for the finals with a time of 4:42.47 along sophomore #Amy Bechdolt and freshman Ashton Porter# who both finished under five minutes.
Maverick swimmers finished one through six in the 50 yard Freestyle. Zamecnik finished first with a time of 24.54 followed by Hopkins (24.69), freshman #Anna Haxby# (25.16), senior #Lisa Elworth# (25.17), Klaiber (25.26) and freshman #Cami Hansberry# (25.26).
The second session with the final events will begin Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the HPER Pool on the UNO campus.
