Mavs Capture Fifth Straight Mutual of Omaha Invite

OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Nebraska at Omaha swim team clinched the title at the Mutual of Omaha Invite Saturday at the HPER pool.UNO outswam the second place University of Colorado-Boulder by more than 1,000 points and placed first in seven of the eight events.This is the fifth year in a row the Mavs have won the title.
The 200 yard medley relay team kicked off the night with a first place finish with a time of 1:52.35. Freshman #Cami Hansberry#, junior #Laura Kemp#, junior #Sara Hallgren and junior Cait Hopkins# picked up 56 points for UNO early in the night.
Kemp captured two first place finishes of her own. She swam to a victory in the 200 yard im with a final time of 2:11.91 for 26 points. Later, she swam to a final time of 2:29.31 in the 200 yard breaststroke for another 26 points.
UNO dominated the the 500 yard freestyle and snatched up the top three spots. Sophomore #Amy Bechdolt# received the 26 points with her first place finish with a time of 5:10.95 followed by sophomore Kylie Hubbel at 5:20.74 and senior #Tessa Edwards# at 5:29.60.
UNO will return to action after the holiday break when they travel to Mankato, Minn., to face Minnesota State on Jan. 15.
