
UNO Dance Team Finishes Fourth at National Champio

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The UNO dance team achieved its highest finish ever at NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship held last weekend. The Mavericks earned fourth place, their best spot since they began competing in the event in 2005.
More than 200 college teams from across the country and world take part in 20 different divisions in the event which ran from April 8 - 11.
It's the second year in a row that UNO has set a new mark for highest finish. The Mavericks finished in fifth place last year.
Hawaii Pacific University won the Division II division with a final score of 9.346. Tamagawa University Julias of Tokyo, Japan was second and long-time UNO rival Minnesota State University, Mankato was third, edging UNO by less than two-tenths of a point. UNO finished with a score of 8.683.
The Mavericks will hold tryouts for the 2009-2010 season on Saturday, April 25 and Saturday May 2 at 5 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
