GRANBURY, Texas - The UNO golf team got improved scores from all five golfers and took fourth place at the Tarleton State Coca-Cola Invitational on Tuesday at Harbor Lakes Golf Course. For the second day in a row, captain #Dani Suponchick# led the Mavericks in scoring.
The Mavericks finished with a team score of 649 after shaving 25 strokes off their score from a cold, blustery opening round on Monday.
St. Edward's University won the event with a two-day score of 629 including the only round below 300 with a second day total of 298. Host Tarleton State moved up to second after firing 306 on Tuesday. The Texanns finished with a total score of 641, just one shot ahead of third place West Texas Community College.
Suponchick shot 75 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 153. She placed fifth individually. #Erin Ommen# was the second Maverick finisher with a total score 158. She shot 77 on Tuesday and finished in ninth overall.
#Abbey Weddle# posted the biggest improvement in day two, shooting 79 on Tuesday for a two-day score of 168. #Rebecca Pollock# fired an 81 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 170, and #Amy Powell# finished day two with a score of 86 for a tournament total of 179.
The Mavericks now ready for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships which begin Sunday, April 19 in Kansas City, Mo.
