UNO Has Advantage After Day One of MIAA Golf Champ

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UNO golf team holds first place after the first day of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Women's Championship. #Erin Ommen# fired the low round of the day with a three over par 75 in blustery conditions at the Shoal Creek Golf Club.
The Mavericks posted a team score of 329, giving them a 14-stroke lead on the second place team, Truman State. Missouri Western sits in third at 382 while Northwest Missouri State is fourth at 393. Four schools in the MIAA sponsor women's golf.
Ommen closed the day with a sizzling 35 on the back nine to lead all other golfers. She's five strokes clear of Truman State's Jennifer Lawson who shot a first round score of 80.
UNO's #Dani Suponchick and Rebecca Pollock# tied for third overall after shooting 83. #Abbey Weddle# was in ninth place with a first day total of 88. #Amy Powell# finished the day tied for 13th with a score of 95.
The final day of competition begins Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
