Mavericks Hand Out Awards at Annual Wrestling Banq

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO wrestling team recognized its outstanding performers from its national championship season at its annual awards banquet held on Friday, April 17. The Mavericks recognized top wresters from each class and inducted a new member into its own Hall of Fame.
Among the class awards, Esai Dominguez was recognized as the outstanding freshman wrestler. Mario Morgan and Aaron Denson earned the same awards for the sophomore class. Cody Garcia and Jacob Marrs were tapped as the outstanding juniors while all four seniors, Ross Taplin, Brent Pankoke, Tony Lewis and national champion Todd Meneely, were named outstanding seniors.
Meneely also received his award for being named the NCAA Division II wrestler of the year, and Garcia received his award for most falls in the national tournament.
The team also inducted long-time assistant coach Ron Higdon into its Hall of Fame. Higdon recently completed his 17th season as an assistant to head coach Mike Denney. He is a former All-American wrestler for UNO.
