Moore Finishes Off Win in MIAA Heptathlon Champion

MARYVILLE, Mo. – UNO heptathlete #Shannon Moore# posted the best score in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association this season on her way to winning the league championship in the event on Monday at Northwest Missouri State. Moore had a strong performance over the final three events of the meet to win by 265 points.
Moore finished with a score of 5,061 which is the highest score in the heptathlon posted by an MIAA athlete this season. Lindsay Lettow of Central Missouri was second at 4,796 points while Emily Churchman of Northwest Missouri State was third at 4,613. The top eight finishers earn points toward the overall team championship which will be decided on Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3 at Missouri Southern.
Moore has automatically qualified for the Division II national championship meet to be held in San Angelo, Texas on May 21 – 23.
In action on Tuesday, Moore finished second in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, three and a quarter inches. She was seventh in the javelin throw with a toss of 94 feet, five inches. She completed the competition by winning the 800 meter dash in a time of 2:21.84, nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
