FINDLAY, Ohio - UNO golfer #Erin Ommen# was tied for 47th after the first round of the NCAA Division II women's golf championship held today at the Findlay Country Club. Ommen qualified for the tournament as an individual after finishing fourth overall at the West Regional held in Omaha last week.
Ommen shot a ten-over-par 82 on the first day, tying her with eight other golfers. There are 12 individual golfers in addition to 12 teams participating in the four-day tournament.
Tarleton State of Stephenville, Texas, which won the West Regional in Omaha, leads the tournament after day one with a team score of 301, six shots clear of the University of Indianapolis. Tarleton's Carla Cooper, who shot the low round of the regional in Omaha, is tied with Charlene Reid of Pfeiffer University for first overall after both golfers shot a two-under round of 70 on Wednesday. Reid is playing as an individual. They were the only two golfers under par.
Ommen returns to the tee for round two on Thursday morning at approximately 7:30 a.m. Central time.
