Wrestling's Madison Triumphs at Greco-Roman Champi

CONCORD, Calif. - UNO wrestler Elijah Madison went 7-0 in individual matches to lead the Missouri-Kansas Greco-Roman team to the Concord Junior World Greco-Roman Championship last weekend. The team was a perfect 7-0 in the dual meet format of the championship.
Madison, out of Kansas City, Mo., won the heavyweight champioship in the individual tournament which followed the duals, posting a record of 3-0. He was 10-0 during the two-day competition.
As a freshman in 2008-09, Madison was 23-1 while wrestling unattached in open tournaments. He is considered one of the top young heavyweights in the nation and will be a redshirt freshman this fall when the Mavericks begin the defense of their 2009 NCAA Division II national championship.
