
MIAA Coaches Weigh In With Preseason Cross Country

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The UNO cross country team has been picked to finish ninth by coaches in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, it was released on Friday in the league's annual preseason poll. The Mavericks, who will have five freshmen on their roster this fall, received eight points in the voting.
Traditional power Missouri Southern was picked to finish first with 62 points and six first-place votes. Pittsburg State was second with 57 points and two first-place votes. Southwest Baptist received the other first-place vote and was third with 50 points.
The Mavericks had their best finish of 2008 in their very first meet of the season, a third-place finish at the UNO/Creighton Classic held at Chili Greens.
The Mavs will open their season with the very same meet on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 9 a.m.
