
Puc Earns MIAA Track Athlete of the Week Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced on Monday that UNO sprinter #Anja Puc# was the league's Co-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 17. She shared the award with Kimi Shank of Missouri Southern.
Puc ran the 1,000 meters for the first time in her career and won the event in a school record time of 2:54.57 at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln. The junior from Medvode, Slovenia was nearly five seconds faster than the second-place finisher, a runner from a Division I school. She also took second in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:24.43, the second fastest time in school history.
Puc and the Mavericks return to action at the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22 and 23.
