UNO Keeps Strangle Hold On Top Spot In Latest Poll

EDMOND, Okla. - The Nebraska at Omaha wrestling squad (5-0) received all eight first-place votes and kept its lock as the unanimous No. 1 pick in the fourth regular-season NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association poll released Wednesday.
The Mavericks repeated as champions and captured their fifth NWCA Division II National Duals crown Jan. 9-10 in Cedar Falls, Iowa after trampling second-ranked Newberry, 25-6, in the finals.
UNO was No. 1 in all seven polls last season en route to winning its fifth Division II national title.
All ten weight classes are represented with a UNO wrestler ranked individually. Six Mavs are ranked in the top two in their weight class.
Jacob Marrs claimed the top spot at 197 pounds after defeating Newberry's Keeno Griffin at the national duals on Jan. 10. Griffin was ranked No. 1 at the time.
Terrell McKinney (125), Cody Garcia (133), George Ivanov (157), Aaron Denson (174) and Elijah Madison (285) are all ranked No. 2.
Mario Morgan (141) and Esai Dominguez (149) are both ranked No. 3. Ryan Pankoke (165) is No. 4 and Austin Boehm (184) is No. 6.
The 2010 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships will be held March 12-13 in Omaha.
The top-ranked Mavericks (5-0) get back into dual action on Friday, Jan. 22 when they take on the top team in Division III, the Augsburg Auggies (8-0). The dual is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis, Minn.
