Five Mavericks Capture Titles at Loper Open

Loper Open Final Results
KEARNEY, Neb. - Five UNO wrestlers earned individual titles and a total of 11 wrestlers placed at the Loper Open on Saturday.
Esai Dominguez led the way with his fourth open title on the year at 149 pounds. Dominguez won by fall over Brandon Richardson of Wyoming in the finals and was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament.
Mario Morgan (141), Ryan Pankoke (174), Matt Baker (197), and Taylor Escamilla (285) also won their respective weight groups. Morgan and Baker took home titles by injury default in the finals, while Pankoke won a 3-1 decision over Dallas Hintz of Wyoming, and Escamilla pinned Jon Mullen of Wayne State. Trent Cox made it to the finals at 133 pounds but had to injury default to Zach Zehner of Wyoming in the finals, settling for runner-up honors.
A total of 11 Mavs placed on the day. Cody Tyler (125) and Mark Fiala (184) took third place, and Josh Keszler (133) took fourth wrestling unattached. Tyler earned the most falls award, picking up five on the day. Brett Rosedale (174) and Terry Laursen (184) each placed fifth.
