LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Anja Puc and #Katarina Zarudnaya# finished in the top half of more than 180 runners at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship on Saturday at E.P. "Tom Sawyer" Park. Both runners are sprint and short distance specialists who were running in just their third 6 K race of the year.
Both runners were competing as individuals as UNO did not qualify for the team competition. Puc finished in 68th place with a time of 22:53. Zarudnaya was 86th in 23:14.
Puc and Zarudnaya have run the two fastest 6 K times in UNO history. Puc was 21:39 and Zarudnaya was 21:52 at the MIAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 6.
Grand Valley State won the National Championship with 66 points. Western State was the runner up with 95 and Adams State finished third at 98.
