SEASIDE, Calif. - #Armana Christianson# shot a team-best 75 to lead the UNO golf team to fifth place after day one of the Lady Otter Spring Invitational hosted by California State Monterey Bay. Christianson's score put her in tenth place overall with the second round of the tournament on tap for Tuesday.
Christianson tied a career best with Monday's score. She closed with a 37 on the back nine. Stephanie Cole of Cal State San Marcos led all players with a first-round 69 which included a score of 33 on the front nine.
As a team, the Mavericks shot 313, just two strokes behind fourth-place Sonoma State. California Baptist University led after day one with a team score of 299. Host CSU Monterey Bay and the University of British Columbia are tied for second at 302 in the 19-team tournament.
#Erin Ommen# was one stroke back of Christianson after firing a 76 on day one, putting her in a tie for 11th overall. #Dani Suponchick# was third for the Mavs with a first-round score of 80. #Abbey Weddle# shot 82, and #Rebecca Pollock# carded an 85.
Round two begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
