GRANBURY, Texas - The UNO golf team moved up two places from its first round position and finished in a tie for ninth place at the Tarleton State Coca-Cola Classic. For the fourth time this spring, senior #Erin Ommen# led the Mavericks in scoring, finishing with a two-day score of 152 at the Harbor Lakes Golf Club.
Ommen shot back-to-back rounds of 76 to lead the Mavs and finish in a tie for eighth overall. Georgina Dunn of Grand Canyon University was declared the individual medalist after finishing in a three-way tie for first with Tarleton's Carla Cooper and Hammerli Sriyai of West Texas A&M. Dunn had the low round of the tournament with a 70 on Monday.
Host Tarleton State won the event with a score of 602, ten strokes clear of runner up Grand Canyon. Northeastern State took third, just one shot back. UNO tied with Cameron University at 633.
#Dani Suponchick# was second for UNO and tied for 27th overall with a score of 158. #Abbey Weddle and Armana Christianson# tied for third in team scoring at 162. #Rebecca Pollock# finished at 164.
The Mavericks will now prepare for defense of their Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association championship. The tournament runs from April 19-20 at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.
