
Mavericks Set Personal Bests at Doane College

CRETE, Neb. - Six Mavericks set personal bests during competition at the Doane College Relays on Saturday afternoon at Laurisen Track. Three athletes also set qualifying marks for the NCAA championships.
#Kayla Koepke# set the stadium record in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 56.08. That was good for first in the event and a provisional qualifying mark. She also finished in the 200 meters with a time of 24.79, also a personal best.
#Shannon Moore# earned a qualifying mark in the 100 meters with at time of 11.99 which was good for third place in the event and 12th nationally. It was the first time she had ever run the event.
Jody-Anne Coore posted a personal best in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing first in a time of 14.67.
In the field events, #Lianne McNaughton# earned two personal bests. She posted a qualifying throw in the shot put with a distance of 44 feet, eight inches, good for second place in the event. She also took third place in the discus with a toss of 114 feet, one inch.
#Sami Spenner# had personal bests in both the long and triple jumps. In the long jump, she finished third with a mark of 17 feet, nine inches. She also was third in the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, eight inches.
#Madison Haugland# broke her own personal best in the hammer throw by almost seven feet with a throw of 146 feet, two inches.
The Mavericks will take part in two meets next week. They'll head to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24. They'll also be at the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College on Thursday and Friday at Indianola, Iowa.
