KANSAS CITY, Mo. - #Dani Suponchick# fired a first-round 75 to lead the UNO golf team to a ten-stroke lead after day one of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Championship at Tiffany Greens Golf Club. The Mavericks are the defending champions after winning the inaugural title last season.
UNO had a first-round team score of 318 while Truman State was in second at 328 and Missouri Western held third with a score of 336. Fort Hays State (354) and Northwest Missouri State (379) rounded out the field of five schools competing for the title.
Suponchick was second in the overall standings, just one stroke behind Truman State's Jennifer Lawson who had a 74 today. UNO's #Erin Ommen was second on the team and third overall with a score of 79 while Rebecca Pollock# was third for the Mavs and tied for fourth overall with a score of 80. #Abbey Weddle gave UNO four players in the top ten with a round of 84 while Armana Christianson# was fifth in scoring for the Mavs after firing a first-round score of 86.
Round two of the tournament begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
