Two Mavs Named to Amateur Wrestling News All-Rooki

OMAHA, Neb. - Nebraska-Omaha wrestlers Elijah Madison and George Ivanov were named to the Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team in the latest issue, which was released on May 15. The two redshirt freshmen helped lead the Mavericks to their fifth NCAA Division II title in the last seven years.
Madison, a heavyweight, and Ivanov, a 157-pounder, both earned All-American status in their first ever appearance at the national tournament. Madison captured his first career individual title, while Ivanov settled for a second-place finish.
Madison became the first UNO heavyweight to win an individual title since Les Sigman did it his freshman season in 2003. Madison was 35-7 on the year with a dual mark of 11-3. The Kansas City, Mo., product led the team with 27 wins by decision.
Ivanov finished the season with a 36-11 overall record and was 12-2 in duals. He was tied for the team lead with eight wins by major decision.
