Moore Sets PRs on First Day of Outdoor Championshi

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNO's #Shannon Moore# posted personal bests in three of the first four events of the heptathlon in the first day of competition at the NCAA Division II Track and Field National Championship. The meet is being held at the Irwin Belk Complex on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University.
Moore earned 3,308 points on the first day of competition, putting her in fourth place among a field of athletes setting high marks. She is just five points out of third place. Aisha Adams of Angelo State leads the event with 3,548 points.
Moore began by running 14.1 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles, good for a fourth-place finish and a new PR. She followed up by tying for seventh with a high jump mark of 5-4 ½. In the shot put, she threw 37-10 ½ inches, good for a third-place finish and a 10-inch improvement on her previous PR. She finished with a personal best in the 200 meters, posting a time of 24.53, putting her in fourth place.
Moore also competed in the long jump. After fouling on her first two jumps, she posted a jump of 18 feet, seven inches which put her in 12th place.
In other action from day one, #Maja Mihalinec# was tenth in the preliminary heats of the 100 meter dash with time of 11.87, putting her in tenth place. She did not advance to the finals.
In the 400 meter dash, #Kayla Koepke# ran a time of 56.16 which also did not qualify her for the finals.
The second day of competition for UNO includes the conclusion of the heptathlon for Moore and preliminary heats for Mihalinec in the 200 meters, #Anja Puc# in the 800 meters and the 4x400 meter relay.
