Moore Continues PR Run at 2010 Outdoor Championshi

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNO's #Shannon Moore# took fifth place in the heptathlon on the second day of the 2010 NCAA outdoor track and field championship. Lightning put a stop to the action following the 200 meter preliminaries at the Irwin Belk Complex at Johnson C. Smith University.
All remaining running events will be staged as timed finals on the final day of competition on Saturday. #Anja Puc# will run the 800 meters, and the team of Puc, Moore, #Kayla Koepke and Maja Mihalinec# will run the 4x400 meter relay.
Moore continued her run of personal bests in the fifth event of the heptathlon, the long jump. She posted a mark of 18 feet, six and a half inches, the sixth-best jump at the meet. She lost ground in the javelin when she had a throw of just 82 feet, nine inches which was good for 15th place.
Moore, though, finished with another PR, earning a third-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.54. Her third-place finish in the race gave her 5,324 points, one final personal best in her last collegiate performance in the heptathlon. She posted five PRs in the seven events against a deep field. Eleven athletes posted scores of 5,000 points or more.
In UNO's only other event run before the weather delay, Mihalinec failed to qualify for the finals of the 200 meter dash after posting a time of 24.66, good for 15th place in the preliminaries.
