Higgins Chosen To Pre-Season All-American Team

OMAHA, Neb. - UNO tight end Mike Higgins has been chosen a Division II Pre-Season All-American by Consensus Draft Services, an organization that tracks NFL prospects. Higgins was named to the second team offense.
Higgins will enter his senior year at UNO this fall. Last year, he was a Daktronics Second Team All-American at tight end, leading the Mavericks with 50 catches for 848 yards and nine touchdowns, all career highs. He was fourth in the MIAA in receptions in league games (8) and fourth in reception yardage per game (72.8). The native of Pickrell, Neb. also ranked in the top ten in the league in receptions per game, yards per catch and total receptions. He was named to the All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association First Team this season. He also was a Daktronics All Super Region IV selection, a First Team Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division II All Super Region IV pick and a D2Football.com Second Team All-American.
Higgins is also a finalist for the MIAA's Ken B. Jones Award. The winner will be announced at the league's year-end banquet on Thursday, June 10.
